Pakistan's state oil company is called Pakistan Petroleum Limited. The Burma Oil Company Limited, which initially owned 70% of the shares with most of the remaining shares held by the Government of Pakistan, was established on June 5, 1950, to take over its assets and liabilities.
Along with the production of crude oil, natural gas liquids, and liquefied petroleum gas, PPL is today a major supplier of natural gas, accounting for about 20% of the country's total natural gas supply. To maximize production and replenish reserves, Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) runs an active exploration program.
